When Katherine and Amit tied the knot, they brought together elegance, intimacy, and heritage in a way that felt entirely their own. Their day began with a breathtaking ceremony at Two Sisters Vineyards in Niagara-on-the-Lake and ended with a lively reception at Rizzo’s House of Parm in Fort Erie — the very first wedding ever hosted at this iconic Matty Matheson restaurant.
Their love story is unique, and their wedding reflected that: a thoughtful blend of traditions from both of their backgrounds, highlighted by Jewish customs that honoured Amit’s heritage and created moments of deep connection.
The Celebration Began with A Romantic Ceremony at Two Sisters Vineyards
With its sweeping views, and elegant architecture, Two Sisters Vineyards was the perfect backdrop for Katherine and Amit’s vows and cocktail hour. The lush greenery and romantic glow of the late afternoon sun framed their ceremony beautifully. Guests were surrounded by nature, fine wine, and a sense of timeless sophistication. They were handed a glass of sparkling wine and a parasol upon entry to truly help immerse them into this beautiful setting.
The ceremony included elements of Jewish tradition, such as a fully draped chuppah and the breaking of the glass. These personal touches made the vineyard celebration feel deeply meaningful and true to who they are as a couple.
First Ever Wedding Reception at Rizzo's House of Parm
After the vineyard ceremony, the celebration continued at Rizzo’s House of Parm in Fort Erie — a restaurant known for its old-world charm, incredible food, and lively atmosphere. Katherine and Amit’s wedding marked a milestone as the first-ever wedding hosted at Rizzo’s, and the space and patio was transformed into a chic and welcoming reception venue.
Guests dined on Italian-American cuisine, toasted with signature cocktails on tap and danced late into the night to the Michael Wainwright Band's live set. The blend of rustic warmth and modern, trendy decor made this reception unforgettable.
A Wedding Full of Personal Touches
What made Katherine and Amit’s celebration truly unforgettable were the thoughtful, creative details woven into the evening.
Family-Style Dinner: Instead of a traditional plated service, guests enjoyed a warm, family-style meal. This not only fit the spirit of Rizzo’s House of Parm — known for its generous portions and Italian cooking — but also encouraged connection, conversation, and a sense of community at every table.
Custom Stationery Inspired by Rizzo’s Branding: The couple carried the restaurant’s unique character into their stationery suite, creating menus, place cards/favour boxes, and signage that felt cohesive and deeply personal. It was a clever nod to the venue’s branding while making their wedding design truly one-of-a-kind.
Cocktails on Tap: Guests were greeted with fresh, flavorful cocktails served on tap, adding a fun and modern twist to the reception. It kept the energy high and the drinks flowing seamlessly throughout the night.
A Sweet Surprise – Bubble Tea!: Katherine planned a special surprise for Amit: bubble tea, his favorite treat. The unexpected arrival of bubble tea at the wedding was a hit with both the groom and the guests, adding a playful, personalized touch that reflected their love story. Of course, personalized cups were designed with similar Rizzo's inspired branding.
Speeches Under the Stars: After dinner, everyone gathered outside to share heartfelt speeches. The intimate, open-air setting created a relaxed atmosphere where love, laughter, and stories could flow freely. This choice gave the evening a sense of intimacy and warmth that guests will never forget.
Together, these details transformed the reception into more than just a party — it became a reflection of Katherine and Amit’s personalities, their relationship, and the joy of bringing people together.
Why Katherine & Amit's Wedding Inspires Us
Their celebration was the perfect example of how to make a wedding deeply personal:
Choosing venues with meaning and character — not just because they are common for weddings! We love that K&A were thinking out of the box with their reception location.
Blending traditions to honour both partners’ backgrounds.
Creating a balance of elegance and joy that made every guest feel part of something special.
Incorporating decor that's contextual to the venue. Tomatoes as the primary decor in an Italian restaurant makes perfect sense, but is a long way from traditional.
Katherine and Amit’s wedding was more than just a beautiful day — it was a trailblazing and heartfelt celebration that we hope will inspire future couples to carve their own path.
